Goose Creek Memorial High School will host our GCM Patriot UIL Invitational on January 11, 2014. EVENTS: We are offering all UIL events EXCEPT the Speech and Debate events. Computer Science will be written only. We will follow UIL rules as stated in the CONSTITUTION and its CONFLICT PATTERN. We will be using UIL Set A Material. Spelling will be ASW.
TIME SCHEDULE: Please visit the "Schedule" page of this website to view the Time Schedule of Events. Please check this schedule carefully. The schedule has been determined by the UIL Conflict Pattern and by our facilities. Students will not be allowed to cross-enter since we are determined to run on time and will NOT hold contests for students who are late. The schedule is subject to change.
DEADLINES: Entry deadline is Monday, January 6, 2014.
DROPS: Drops after 3:30pm on Monday, January 6, 2014 will forfeit the entry fee.
FEES: Each school is limited to four (4) entries per event EXCEPT science, accounting, computer science, current issues and events, number sense, mathematics, calculator applications, and social studies where there is no limit. All journalism events and ready writing will have a cap of 50 competitors. Computers will be available for journalism events and ready writing. Entry fees will be $10.00 per event per student.
SUBSTITUTIONS: Substitutions may be made on the day of the contest. It is the responsibility of the contestant to make the director of that specific contest aware of the substitution. If contestants are added/dropped, present the contest director with your student’s add/drop slip indicating that he/she has been added to the contest.
FOOD AND SERVICES We will provide a consession stand in our cafeteria area where contestants can purchase a variety of hot foods, snacks and drinks. Meals for the coaches and bus drivers will be provided in the hospitality room.
REGISTRATION DIRECTIONS: Fill out the attached entry form. Calculate the total number of entries. The form can be completed and EMAILED back to Angie Johnson at [email protected]. Or the form can be FAXED TO 281-421-4444, ATTN: Angie Johnson. Payment may be mailed to the school directly prior to the event or will be taken the morning of the meet. FACILITIES: Contests will be held in buildings all over our campus. The cafeteria will be available for students who have finished or are in between contests. We ask for the students to remain in this area while they are not competing.
RESULTS AND AWARDS: Results and Awards will be announced in the cafeteria as they become available.
JUDGING AND GRADING Judges will be provided by Goose Creek Memorial High for all judged/subjective events. We ask that your coaches to please assist in the grading of all of the following events (Literary Criticism, *Spelling, Number Sense, Accounting, Social Studies, Current Issues and Events, *Computer Applications, Mathematics,Calculator Apps, Computer Science-written, and Science)
ATTENTION: *All Computer Application teams and Spelling teams MUST provide a grader. If one is not provided, that school’s papers will NOT be graded and scored. In addition, all Computer Application contestants must provide their own laptop computers, printers, power strips, etc. stated in the constitutions rules.
GENERAL RULES: (1) Vandalism of any sort will result in disqualification of the entire squad. (2) Please keep all food and drinks in the cafeteria. (3) MP3, CD players, radios, etc, may be used with headphones. We ask that you help keep the noise down in the cafeteria. (4) Goose Creek ISD will not be held responsible for damage, theft, loss of property or accidents.
